Bejeweled Twist with Peggle Nights

Bejeweled Twist from PopCap is the most ambitious follow-up yet to the Bejeweled franchise of games. The original Bejeweled was the game that launched the “casual gaming” craze, with game mechanics that anyone can pick up and enjoy, and now with Bejeweled Twist, PopCap has added more depth and strategy with a twisting maneuver. .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: in

I love this new updated version of the fun Bejeweled game. Much more fun to rotate than drag the jewels.
You just click on set of 4 and keep clikcing til it rotates to where you make at least 3. Then there are the flaming bomb jewels. If you match them they explode all around. But my sons think the lightening ones are the coolest. When they are matched, they will do a lightening strike to destroy jewels across and down in t shape. See how many lines you can destroy.

Very fast moving and very fun for all ages that can click and move a mouse. The graphics are very colorful and make this game fun and exciting. Great Family game highly reccommend for all.

This game is the latest addition to the Bejewel line of games from “POPCAPS”.

The original ‘Bejeweled’ was a game of match 3, 4 or 5 jewels while trying to obtain a higher and higher scores as the game progressed in difficulty. ‘Bejeweled Twist’ adds several new options to the old game. The main difference is in movement of gems; in the original game you moved the gem laterally or up/down to make a match, but in B. Twist you turn 4 gems 90 degrees resulting is more combinations and also more unexpected result.

    Some other things I liked:

1.)A very pleasant and catchy electronic tune plays continually in the background; in all the times I’ve played, I’ve never become annoyed or irritated by this melody. (it can, however, be turned off) The graphics/videos and audio effects (explosions etc.) are outstanding.

2.)The old game ended if no match was available (who can ever forget “NO MORE MOVES” as your last desperate attempt to continue a game failed). However, in this game you always have a move; losing involves having a gem that has turned into a time bomb go off before you can destroy or defuse it. This can be very intense as the music pace increases and the bomb start to vibrate and smoke as the counter ticks down towards zero with each successive move .

3.)Every move that makes a match, evokes a multiplier system that allows score to be gradually increased up to a factor of 10x, resulting in potentially incredible high scoring combos; it’s very motivating to try to obtain these increasingly larger and larger multipliers.

4.)’Special’ gems are awarded once the 10x multiplier level meter is reach and filled twice, resulting in a rare, but astronomical scoring opportunity.

5.)In addition to the regular ‘Bejeweled Twist’ matching game there are several other features; a Zen game (unending, no bombs and no tension), a Blitz game (5 minutes to get a new high score) and a Challenge game (where you need to accomplish certain goals to continue).

    Conclusion:
A truly interesting addition to the Bejewel family of games; very addicting.
Easily worth every cent of the less than $20.00 you pay to purchase.
    5 Stars.

Bejeweled Twist is the third incarnation of the very fun and very popular series of Bejeweled PC games (over 25 million copies of Bejeweled have been sold). This latest version adds a few more twists to this classic game, hence the title.

In Bejeweled, gems are laid out on a vertical grid, similar to a chess board, and you swap two gems with each other in an effort to achieve 3 or more in a row. When you make a 3 gem match, the gems “vaporize” and more gems cascade down to take their place. In Bejeweled Twist, you rotate a quartet of gems. In the original Bejeweled, if you swapped a pair of gems and there was no match, the gems returned to their original positions. In Bejeweled Twist, you can make a move without a resulting match. This makes the game much more strategic — you can tactically move gems to set up a match event without having to solely rely on their original random placement. That statement may make Twist sound easier… but it isn’t. There are also surprises in store, bomb gems and doom gems occasionally appear.

There are also variations within Twist. There are different modes of play, including classic, blitz, challenge and zen.

The graphics and audio effects are great; the previous versions were pretty good in this regard, but Twist is much better. The game drives you to excel, if only for the graphic and sound rewards that await! It’s a fun game and one that you’ll play repeatedly.

Bejeweled Twist installs easily and ran fine on a moderately equipped laptop running Windows XP as well as a high powered gaming desktop running Windows Vista Premium.
